Uganda 'happy' about food crisis

"I think out of all these hiccups we may get a more rationalised interaction... by removing trade barriers, by removing subsidies"
President Museveni

Languages of Uganda
Uganda is ethnologically diverse, with at least forty languages in usage.
Luganda is the most common language. English is the official language, even though only a relatively small proportion of the population speaks it. Access to economic and political power is almost impossible without having mastered that English. Luganda, a language widespread in central Uganda, is the official vernacular language in education for central Uganda. The East African lingua franca Swahili is relatively widespread as a trade language and became an official national language in September 2005.A main division between the languages of Uganda can be made according to their linguistic affiliation. About half of Uganda's languages, all spoken in the southern part, are members of the Bantu language family whereas the other half, in northern Uganda, are Nilo-Saharan languages.

THE latest from Leone Island is that Moses Kinti a.k.a Mozey Radio and Douglas Mayanja a.k.a Weasel have bowed out and formed Da Blessed Crew, after falling out with their boss Jose Chameleone. Trouble started when the two singers, who have been backing up Chameleone, clashed with him at the launch of their debut hit, Nakudata, at Steak Out Bar recently. Chameleone reportedly refused to perform at the show.Media reports point to a major fall out that took family intervention to quell, but their differences, however, were not fully patched up.

Singer Iryn Namubiru’s maternity leave is over and the diva is set to return on stage any time this month.
The France-based singer gave birth to a baby boy whom she named Al Kabanda in February this year, and so she had to take some time off the social scene.
But during a telephone conversation this week, Iryn revealed to 24/7 that she has not just been relaxing, “I’ve been writing lots of songs and planning my comeback and the best is what I can promise all my fans,” Iryn said.

She said that she will return to Uganda sometime this month to hold a couple of performances as well as record some duets with a few local musicians.Iryn will also travel to South Africa where she will spend a few months recording a solo album, and meet and do duets with a few South African musicians.

We provide innovative marketing solutions that musicians need to compete, cooperate, and differentiate in an increasingly noisy online environment. Unlike typical "closed" communities, artists use ReverbNation as their home base for approaching marketing and promotion across the Internet as a whole — be it via social networks, blogs, or the artist's homepage. Tools like TunePaks, FanReach, and Widgets give the artist the power to spread their music and information virtually anywhere. Real-time stats then provide a 360-degree view of how the music is spreading, who is listening, and which fans are actually passing it on to their friends and posting it on their pages.
